FUEL TANK & CAP

The fuel tank stores fuel prior to its consumption by the engine. The fuel tank cap prevents fuel vapors (hydrocarbons) from escaping into atmosphere. Hydrocarbons can irritate mucous membranes and cause other illnesses. The cap also allows air to enter the tank as fuel is consumed, otherwise, the tank could not be drained.
